University of Washington, Tacoma

The University of Washington, Tacoma was founded in 1990 as part of an expansion to the 156-year-old Seattle Campus. The campus consists of 46 acres on the hillside of Tacoma’s historic Union Station District, overlooking the Port of Tacoma, Mount Rainier and Tacoma’s vibrant downtown. UWT is centered around the Prairie line trail, a mile-long stretch of retired rail track that once made up the western end of the Northern Pacific Railroad, and now acts as a city park linking Tacoma’s waterfront, downtown, university and brewery districts. UWT is made up of both modern construction and turn-of-the-century brick buildings that have been transformed into modern classrooms.
