Titlow Park Early Spring
February heralds the beginning of a new season with the emergence of pussy willow and flowering pear trees. Also, on the pond we will see Bufflehead ducks, Mallards and migratory American Wigeons. The Pileated woodpecker also begins to appear at this time. The Titlow Lodge in the background is a portion of the original Hotel Hesperides that was built in 1911 by Aaron R. Titlow. Metro Park District of Tacoma purchased the property in 1926 and since then this West Tacoma park has been known for its beach frontage and estuary lagoon that
attracts visitors and bird watchers throughout the year.
